About me

Welcome! I am Jaysree Naveenan. This website is going to be a one-stop shop for great Indian recipes. My ultimate goal is to help beginners learn to cook amazing Indian food with both passion and ease; and for those experienced cooks out there to try something new from my collection of recipes. I want every one who comes here to be able to make these dishes in the comfort of their home and enjoy it with their loved ones.

Here is a little background about me and why I started writing this blog! I was born in temple town Kumbakonam and brought up in the busy city Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Now I live in windy Chicago with my husband Naveenan. My country is not only known for its cultural diversity but also its culinary diversity. We all love our rice, dhal, curry, spices, and rotis!

I am the only child for my parents but, I have numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandpas. Basically, a huuuuge family! Even though we all have our differences, there is one thing that has always brought us all together – FOOD. Just not any food, it was food made and served with loads of love. It did not matter if it was a simple curd rice with home made pickles or chicken biryani, the amount of care and love that a person poured into making the dish always made me feel hearty and loved.

Having said all that, neither my mom (mom = great cook) taught me how to cook nor, did I ask her to; and I had to move away from home for studies! Here I am writing a blog to share recipes. Funny, right? After all these years of skype-ing with my mom and internet searching, I learnt to cook and serve yummy food (loaded with love)!

In this blog I am sharing all that I learned from my family to help everyone out there. Well, enough about me! From now on its all about You and You making yummy food! If I can do it, you can do it too!

Wish you all “Happy Cooking”.
