Sweet Coconut Dumplings|Sweet Bonda

Sweet Coconut Dumplings|Sweet Bonda is a very simple Indian snack recipe. You can make this any day as all the ingredients required to make this dish are pantry staples like all purpose flour, sugar, and coconut.

I remember having this snack on weekends with my cousins while watching cricket matches on television. It is so yummy that one will lose count of how many you have had.

There are various ways to make sweet bonda or sweet dumplings. You can add bananas or apples to make it interesting. Some recipes also use wheat flour to make sweet bonda. My mother always made this Sweet Coconut Dumplings|Sweet Bonda with just all purpose flour, coconut flakes or grated coconut, and sugar.

How to make Sweet Coconut Dumplings|Sweet Bonda?

I mix all the dry ingredients: all purpose flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and or store bought coconut flakes. You can also use freshly grated coconut. Mix all the dry ingredients thoroughly before adding water. I add water in small amount and stir everything slowly to make sure there no lumps in the batter. The batter should be thick in consistency and not runny.

Heat oil in a small wok or kadai on medium high heat. I use a spoon to drop the batter into the oil and flip the dumplings around in the oil so that they brown evenly on all sides. When the dumplings/bonda turn golden brown remove them using slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to remove any excess oil.

Serving suggestions
